Roof Spoiler

When I first built my car, I had a TwinZ roof spoiler on it that I loved.  After it was stolen, I didn't want to spend another $300 on a small piece of fiberglass, so I made my own! I didn't want to make a 1:1 copy, but instead something that flowed with the lines of the car and wasn't as big or aggressive as pretty much all of the roof wings on the market are.

First I made the model in SolidWorks and printed a few tests to make sure everything fit

After a lot of printing (probably ~ 40 hours of total print time) I had a complete model that I mocked up on the car

Next was plastic welding all the pieces together!

After grinding down the tabs from the plastic welder, I gave it a quick scuff and wrapped it in preparation for a drift day

A few weeks later, I pulled it back off and gave it to my friend Tim to throw some bondo on it

And here we are now! With it bondoed, wrapped, and on the car. Very happy with the finished product. In the future I hope to start producing fiberglass versions, but the 3D printed one has held up so far.
